Karen Frey completed her BFA degree at the California College of Arts. Her works are in collections locally and across the country. Her published works can be found in Encaustic Painting in the 21st Century, Schiffer Publishing; Painting the Many Moods of Light, Northlight Books; Best of Sketching and Drawing, Painting Light and Shadow, and Best of Watercolor by Rockport Publishers.

Karen is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, the Watercolor USA Honor Society, and a member of the International Encaustic Artists organization.
